If It Were Mine I would consider felling the spruce and replacing them with native site-appropriate species such as willow, alder and birch, perhaps with a small pond at the centre. The light density of stems elsewhere also encourages enrichment planting with native broadleaves – I’d opt for fruiting species to encourage the birds. A few nest boxes also appeal.
